Evolution
and Science? Why not take the easy way out and follow a simple religion? Here comes the hard truth.
6-19-2009 --- Before you read this, I would like for everyone to know
that I do not judge people by there religion. I'm sure you are all good hearted people who make great decisions in life besides
your religion. I feel bad that you were brain washed as a child and made to believe that everyone else is wrong but you and
what you stand for. Science and technology have gotten us so far on this earth. I will be adding each week a long 5 paragraph
essay explaing the facts behind science and why maybe you should have an open minded thought process as you read this. Thank
you and enjoy.
Here at Atheist House we want to get more in depth and what is really out there. I, myself grew up a Christian and believed
in the Bible and went through with the religion more than half my life. After years of growing up I noticed science and I
realized that just maybe science might have the edge over religion, and guess what? I was right. On my own I did my research
looked into evolution and background information about science. The bible has not one single piece of scientific evidence
proving anything is true. For example, how are you going to tell me a senior citizen got every animal on a boat the size (if
not bigger) than the Titanic? One man can not even do something like that now, therefore over 2000 years ago! Were there air
conditioners on the boat for the penguins and polar bears while they hold their urge to eat every predator? Were there furnaces
for the desert animals such as elephants or bearded dragons? The movie Evan Almighty was lame enough to show that thee impossible
is impossible and will never happen.
By now you’re probably
thinking that Atheists are doubters, and just plain non-believers. But Atheist such as myself see the world completely different
than from your typical brain washed Christian. I think that once we some how get the message across that this is the 21st
century and everything in the whole universe deals with science and NOT religion, it might influence people to become doctors
or scientist to really find out the questions and the right answers we need to ask ourself.
Stop being close minded,
and look into the studies behind the evolution theory. It’s becoming no longer a theory but a fact. This is because
we have species and animals that are evolving in front of us as of today. Monkeys being able to do mental math at a higher
level. Birds becoming incredibly intelligent and not to mention diseases and viruses that are also evolving into something
stronger. Discovery channel, animal planet and the science channel are basically proof that no religion is true. We have only
discovered 2% of animal species that live in the oceans and water.
The son of God claimed
to be Jesus Christ was a complete nut job (sorry to offend). If somebody today claimed to be the son of God we would all see
that person as crazy! Charles Manson is a great example. Jesus Christ claimed to be the son of God when their were dinosaurs
about 50,000,000 years before he was even born. Why would God’s son be human? The earth is over 4.5 billion years old,
which is a fact because we have scientist that study the rock while priests and ministers are out and about molesting small
children. It’s very disturbing.
Something to remember…when
you do something incredible, don’t thank God…Give yourself the credit and pat yourself on the back because YOU
did it!
The Fight for Evolution
The National Center for Science Education is fighting for evolution to be tought in public schools. They are a very reliable
source of information, check them out.
How old is the Earth Really?
The age of the Earth is 4.54 billion years (Ga or Gyr), a number which geologists have determined by several independent
methods. Because of the recycling of crustal rocks by plate tectonics, no direct material from the earliest Earth still exists.
However, geologists are able to analyze meteorites and lunar rocks returned by the Apollo missions.
Methods
Rocks in the 4-5 Ga range may be dated by measuring ratios of isotopes of uranium/lead, rubidium/strontium, potassium/argon,
argon/argon, and neodymium/samarium. One way to judge the reliability of a radiometric measurement is to compare the results
of different measurement techniques for the same sample.
Note that these methods do not include carbon dating. Creationists frequently describe carbon being used to date rocks;
in fact, it cannot be used in that way, as rocks do not accumulate carbon in the manner that living material does. Also, the
relatively brief half-life of 14C (5730 years) means that after ~50,000 years, so little 14C remains
that the machine used to measure isotopes, a mass spectrometer, cannot reliably detect this amount within its normal background
error.
Meteorites
Meteorites are pieces of the primordial solar system. They formed at the same time as Earth and the other planets. Meteorites
test within a narrow time range between 4.48-4.56 Ga.
Lunar Materials
The Apollo missions returned 382 kg of lunar materials. Although much of this consisted of relatively young volcanic flows,
older crustal highland rocks ranged from 4.3-4.5 Ga. In 2005, researchers used a refined technique involving tungsten isotopes
and hafnium to find a lunar formation date of 4.527 Ga.

- Minimum age of the solar system: 4.5695 ± 0.0002 Ga
Based on radiometric dating using 207Pb/206Pb—204Pb/206Pb,
(Baker et al., 2005)
- Age of the Earth: 4.54 ± 1% Ga
Numerous meteorite samples. (Patterson, 1956; Dalrymple, 1991)
- Age of moon formation, 4.527 Ga. (Kleine, et al., 2005)
Note that lunar rocks are slightly younger
than the Earth, reflecting their origin as a piece of Earth’s mantle hurtled into orbit during a collision.
- Oldest mineral yet discovered on Earth: 4.408 Ga ± 8 Ma
zircon crystal in sediment, Jack Hills, Australia
(Wilde et al., 2001)
- Oldest rock yet identified on Earth: 4.031 Ga ± 3 Ma
Acasta gneiss, Slave Craton, Canada (Bowring
and Williams, 1999). As this went to press, a paper was published in Science (O'Neil et al., 26 Sep 08) reporting
a rock dated at 4.28 Ga. If verified, this would replace the Acasta gneiss as the oldest rock yet found.
